Whiskey Rebellion Dinner

2016 marks the 8th Annual Whiskey Rebellion Dinner, a must attend event featuring history and whiskey. Simon Brooking, the North American Laphroaig Ambassador and Michael Egan, the Cooley’s Distillery Irish Whiskey Ambassador are both speaking at the Dinner.
The Dinner is a fundraiser for the Bradford House Museum located at 175 S Main Street, Washington, PA 15301. The Bradford House Museum is a National Historic Landmark and home of Whiskey Rebellion leader David Bradford. The museum includes an 18th Century garden and kitchen cabin.
Simon Brooking was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and a member of the Robertson Clan, Simon traces his roots back to the 13th Century and the Celtic Earls of Atholl. A well-known expert on Scotch whisky, Simon has worked for a number of leading Scotch distilleries, learning the art and science of distilling from the world’s foremost master distillers and blenders. For over 10 years, Simon has led hundreds of Scotch whisky tastings for consumers, bartenders and social organizations. Both informing and entertaining, his presentations have made him an in-demand speaker and spokesperson. Simon’s love of Scotland’s Highlands and Islands has paved the way to his present position as the Master Ambassador for The Dalmore and Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch whiskies.
Most recently, Simon Brooking was recognized at WhiskyLive in New York City as a highly commended Icon of Whisky. The honor builds on past accolades Brooking has received over the years, helping drive awareness and trial of Laphroaig. The Icons are designed to celebrate the people and places behind the great whiskies of the world, and are selected by an independent editorial panel from companies based around the world.
Michael Egan was born in Dublin, Ireland. Cooley Distillery is an Irish whiskey distillery, located on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth, Ireland, converted in 1987 from an older potato alcohol plant by John Teeling. The distillery features both column stills and pot stills for distillation. Unlike most other Irish whiskeys, which are usually distilled three times, Cooley’s products are generally distilled twice, as the third distillation is thought to remove some of the flavor components.
