Boy Scout Workshop, the American Heritage Merit Badge

The workshop is administered by our Historical Consultants and qualified docents. Participants will satisfy merit badge requirements with a merit badge counselor on-site to sign Blue Cards (provided by each Scout, completed legibly with the troop leader’s signature).
Workshop Specifics
Prerequisites #3a AND #3c – to be finished before the workshop and brought to the workshop as written paragraphs with scout’s name on the page(s)
3a. Select a topic that is currently in the news.
Be prepared to describe to your counselor and the workshop group what is happening and to explain how today’s events are related to or affected by the events and values of America’s past.
3c. Research your family’s history.
Find out how various events and situations in American history affected your family. If your family immigrated to America, tell the reasons why. Be prepared to share what you find with your counselor and the workshop group.
- $15 per person (one adult leader admitted free per troop; additional adults $5 each)
- Workshop can be scheduled with minimum of 3 weeks’ notice
- 9 am – 3 pm
- Class size limited to 8-20 participants
- Lunch (please bring a brown bagged lunch)
Pins and belt loops are not provided. A certificate of completion and a Whiskey Rebellion Flag Badge will be distributed.
