Cabin Faced West by Jean Fritz Workshop for Grades 3-5

Limit: 20 participants
Prerequisite: Student will obtain and read The Cabin Faced West by Jean Fritz. A pdf for a reading study guide will be provided to each registrant.
During the workshop, students will be introduced to the concepts of historical fiction and figurative language and to the geography of the 1790s western Pennsylvania frontier. They will tour the Bradford House log cabin, play 18 th century games, observe replica artifacts, and experience hands-on activities.
Lunch will be served using the book’s frontier menu: johnny cakes with homemade butter and maple syrup, seasonal fruit and milk.
Each student will receive a log cabin building kit to take home.
