Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson Workshop for Grades 6-9

- Limit: 20 participants
Prerequisite: Student will obtain and read Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. A pdf for a comprehensive reading study guide will be provided to each registrant.
During the workshop, historical connections will be made to events and lifestyles in western Pennsylvania during the same time period, using PowerPoint presentations, simulations, and activities. Students will learn about the Whiskey Rebellion and what it was like living on the 1790s western frontier of the United States, using primary sources, reproduction clothing, and artifacts.
Lunch will be served in our version of the novel’s Cook’s Coffeehouse; the menu is vegetable soup, biscuits, apple cake, and cocoa.
Each student will be given a Whiskey Rebellion study packet and a quill pen to take home.
