Enjoy a lecture with Jack Maurer on his new historical novel, March in the Morning, regarding the Whiskey Rebellion and the Battle of Bower Hill. Free event at the Meeting House.

March in the Morning is an historical novel of the Battle of Bower Hill. Focused on five days in July 1794, this piece of historical fiction provides life and color to the series of events that marked the beginning of the Whiskey Rebellion. As you read it, you’ll meet the characters whose personalities, opinions, struggles and actions challenge the authority of a new federal government.

Like volatile vapors building pressure in a whiskey still, tempers and emotions began to flare and boil over, and the men who had fought for freedom a couple decades before felt called to do so again. The rebels: John Holcroft; John Gaston; the Hamilton brothers… Daniel and David; Colonel John Hamilton; Benjamin Parkinson; Phillip Wigle; Andrew and James McFarlane. The law: General John Neville; Marshal David Lenox; Major Abraham Kirkpatrick. Put them together, and they create the sparks that ignite the Whiskey Rebellion. This is their story. The story of the Battle of Bower Hill.

Though this is a free event, registration is preferred.
